Yakal Tree is a medium to large-sized tree about 30 to 50 meters tall. It is endemic to the Philippines and commonly found in the lowland forests of the islands of Luzon, Negros, Samar, and Mindanao. Its wood is famous for its high level of strength, durability and is used for constructing houses, bridges, and other structures requiring durable lumber.

Due to Yakal woods superior quality compared to other types of hardwoods, it has become highly sought after by buyers who would pay premium prices just to acquire it, hence making it even more expensive.
